FINE LINE TATTOO AFTERCARE

​Post treatment care contributes to 70 per cent of the treatments success. Following careful instructions will give you the best possible results for your skin type and promote good healing.  

  With Second Skin (Dermal Film)  First 24 hours

• Keep the Second Skin on for 24 hours unless it leaks excessively.

• Some fluid (ink + plasma) under the film is normal.

If the film fills with fluid, leaks, or peels off:

• Remove it

• Wash gently with lukewarm water + mild, fragrance-free soap

• Pat dry with a clean paper towel

• Apply a very thin layer of recommended tattoo aftercare ( Bepanten or Savlon cream)

• Do not re-apply Second Skin unless instructed  

After removing Second Skin (Day 1–2) 

• Wash the tattoo 2 times per day with gentle soap

  • Pat dry — no rubbing

  • Apply a very thin layer of aftercare cream (over-moisturising can blur fine lines) 

Days 3–10

  • Continue washing once or twice daily 

• Moisturise lightly only when the skin feels dry 

• Expect light flaking or micro-peeling — normal for fine line tattoos

  • Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate  

 What to avoid (14 days)

  • Sun exposure / tanning

  • Swimming, baths, spas, saunas

  • Heavy sweating or friction

  • Tight clothing over the tattoo

  • Makeup, fake tan, acids, or retinol on the area  

 Long-term care

  • Fine line tattoos are delicate — always use SPF 30–50 once healed

  • Keep the skin well hydrated

  • Avoid laser, peels, or skin treatments over the tattoo unless cleared  

Red flags (contact your artist or a doctor if):

  • Increasing redness after day 3 • Heat, pus, strong swelling • Fever or worsening pain
Use of creams, antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to faster pigment fading.
